Your eyebrows frame your face and so changing your eyebrows can give you a completely different look. The aim of this article is to give you some tips and advice on how to add colour to your eyebrows.
The first thing to do is to shape your eyebrows. It is important to keep in mind that the eyebrow is a frame for your eye. This means it is important not to over pluck your eyebrows, if you do it will mean they will be too small and then when you add colour make you look like you have painted eyebrows. This is never a good look and should be avoided at all costs. Never pluck from the top of your eyebrows and try to avoid plucking them close to the nose. They should run from the edge of the nose round to the outside corner of the eye to ensure they are giving the best possible shape.
Now you need to pick the type of product you want to use. You can get either pencil or powder to colour your eyebrows. The powder can be applied with a small brush and both should be applied in the direction of the hair growth. If you have never applied colour to your eyebrows before then it is a good idea to start with a pencil as this is much easier to apply.
The way in which you apply colour will depend on whether it is daytime or night time. In the daytime you will want to go for a lighter look than in the day. If you have naturally dark eyebrows that are the same or darker than your hair, you should use a colour that is the slightly lighter than the colour of your eyebrows and just use the colour to fill them in. If you have eyebrows that are lighter than your hair colour you should use a colour that is one shade lighter than your hair colour to fill them in.
If you want to create a bold look to your eyebrows for the evening then you should select a colour that is the same or one shade darker than your natural eyebrow colour. If you are blonde and want to go for a bold look then using a hazelnut eyebrow colour can look great.
When you are applying your eyebrow colour stay within your existing eyebrows. If you go outside the edges it will create a fake look and simply look like you have just painted them on. We would recommend using a pencil to fill them in and then gently smudge the colour by running your finger over your eyebrows. This the reason why it is important not to over pluck and then apply colour as it will create the fake look you do not want.
It is important to remember that you are applying colour to your eyebrows to enhance your look and not to dominate it. If you apply your eyebrow colour and think that your eyebrows now look too dark and strong, blend the colour some more to reduce the intensity. The point of applying eyebrow colour is to improve the look of your eyes and not to take over. If you get it right it will add glamour to your look and make you feel fantastic.
